Across rivers. On foot. In crowded buses. In silence through stigma and in defiance of shame—mothers carry their children toward hope.

Some walk for hours to reach care. Some risk being cast out by their communities. Others bear the weight of stereotypes that say their child isn’t worth saving. And yet—they persist. They fight. They show up with love that refuses to surrender.

At NeuroKids, we witness this quiet, relentless bravery every day. It’s in the eyes of mothers who ask hard questions, who sleep beside hospital beds, who hold their babies close through tears and triumphs.

One of those mothers is Daw

When Daw’s newborn son, Paing, was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, the odds were stacked against them. At just two months old, he needed a life-saving surgery with only a 50% chance of survival. Many might have been paralyzed by fear. But Daw moved forward—with fierce love and unstoppable determination.

I realized it would be more painful to regret losing my child [without trying],” she shared. “So I decided to go ahead—believing in my child’s fate and [our] love.

She didn’t make this choice lightly. Daw searched tirelessly for answers, researched treatment options, and sought second opinions. She held space for both hope and fear, and still found the strength to say yes to the surgery that could save her child’s life.

That decision changed everything.

ecognize the faces of those who loved him. He started crawling, babbling, and reaching for the world around him. Today, at 10 months old, he is thriving—full of life, personality, and possibility.

Now, our family is full of hope. We’re planning for his growth, his development, his life.

Daw’s story is not just about one mother’s journey—it’s a testament to all mothers who go the extra mile. Those who carry their children—physically, emotionally, spiritually—toward healing and hope. Mothers who refuse to give up. Mothers who choose their child’s future, no matter the cost.

This Mother’s Day, we honor Daw. We honor every mother who chooses love in the face of fear.
