Giselle Coelho, MD, PhD, MA

Pediatric Neurosurgeon at Santa Casa, São Paulo, and Sabará Children’s Hospital Scientific Director at EDUCSIM Startup
A pediatric neurosurgeon and scientific director at Brazil’s EDUCSIM startup, Dr. Giselle Coelho is a pioneer in developing new teaching and learning techniques in neurosurgery. In 2014, she developed the first infant simulator for training neurosurgeons in the treatment of hydrocephalus and other conditions. She also currently serves as the neurosurgery residents preceptor at Santa Casa Hospital in São Paulo, Brazil.
Dr. Coelho received her medical degree at the University of Campinas/UNICAMP Medical School in 2005 and has completed fellowships in pediatric neurosurgery at the Universitá Catollica Del Sacro Cuore in Rome and in Boston at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
Prior to her work with EDUSIM, Dr. Coelho was the scientific director of the SIEDI Institute, where she coordinated more than 45 courses in medical education and realistic simulation. Between 2014 and 2021, she also ran the Pediatric Neurosurgery Preceptorship at Santa Marcelina Hospital in São Paulo, Brazil.
She is a member of the Brazilian Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery (SBN Ped) and the International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery (ISPN).
