Ashley Birch is a global health professional and pediatric neurosurgery nurse practitioner at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH), working alongside Dr. Benjamin Warf since 2015. Ms. Birch has long dedicated herself to enhancing the lives of children with hydrocephalus and spina bifida.
In recognition of her commitment to global medicine, she has been honored with multiple global nursing fellowships, including the prestigious Maggie Ryan Endowed Fellowship at BCH. In this role, she actively works to strengthen pediatric neurosurgical care in resource-limited settings.
Beyond her clinical work, Ms. Birch serves on the board of the Spina Bifida Association of Greater New England (SBAGNE) and works with the International Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery (ISPN) as part of their nursing committee.
As a founding board member of NeuroKids, Ashley Birch has been instrumental in developing aftercare programs for hydrocephalus and spina bifida. She has gained experience at multiple hospitals in low and middle-income countries (LMICs) across the world, including Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Antigua, Egypt, and Uzbekistan. She is excited to use her background in nursing, multidisciplinary care, and advocacy to expand NeuroKids’ reach and improve pediatric care in LMICs.
