Sergio had been serving in Development and Disability programmes since 1987, trying to improve the quality of life of persons with disability, and their perception, in the societies where he has been working.
During the initial years of his service, Sergio worked toward increasing the availability and quality of prosthetic and orthotic services in South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya. In the last 15 years he contributed to develop and implement strategic country plans providing leadership and strategic vision to local staff and partners, in countries like South Sudan, Nigeria, Zambia and Malawi, and by developing and nourishing partnerships and alliances with local NGOs and Governments, with the focus on local capacity building.
In addition, over the years, Sergio contributed toward the establishment of Safety and Security policies, standard operation plans and emergency response plans, while providing a robust structure to the in-country administrative and financial programmes’ processes.
Sergio holds a Master in Advanced Studies of Humanitarian Logistics and Management.
