Femi Bankole, MD, FWACS, FACS
NIGERIA
As a consultant neurosurgeon, Dr. Femi Bankole has blazed a trail in neurosurgery care and has been involved in training many neurosurgeons in the past twenty years. He first met Dr. Ben Warf in 2006 when he served as the first neurological fellow at the hospital in Mbale, Uganda. Dr. Bankole is committed to furthering the practice of neurosurgery in Nigeria and improving the quality of and access to neurosurgical services.
He received his medical degree from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and completed the residency program in 2002, at which point he was awarded the fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons. Since 2003, he has worked at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Lagos, Nigeria as a consultant neurosurgeon. Dr. Bankole also holds an academic appointment in the Department of Surgery, College of Medicine, University of Lagos, where he is an Associate Professor and Head of Neurosurgery. He has also had further training at several hospitals including the Emory Clinic, Atlanta, Georgia, and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
