Arnold Bhebhe, MD
ZAMBIA
Dr. Bhebhe is a distinguished young Zambian neurosurgeon with a profound dedication to pediatric neurosurgery. He is a strong advocate for the enhanced care and management of patients with hydrocephalus and spina bifida in Zambia.
Dr. Bhebhe firmly believes that the commitment to surgical care extends beyond the operating room. He actively follows up with his patients within their communities, providing ongoing management through community outreach programs and medical camps.
After earning his medical degree from Rostov State Medical University in Russia in 2013, Dr. Bhebhe joined the Zambia Ministry of Health as a medical doctor. He gained invaluable experience serving in rural Zambia for 18 months following his internship at the University Teaching Hospital. His unwavering passion for patient care, coupled with his diligence and dedication, earned him the prestigious Zambia Medical Association Young Doctor’s Award in 2019.
In 2023, Dr. Bhebhe graduated as one of the pioneer students of the first-ever Zambian Specialist Training Program in Neurosurgery. He further distinguished himself by receiving the 2023-2024 Congress of Neurological Surgeons Foundation Global Neurosurgery Observership, in collaboration with the Harvard Program for Global Surgery and Social Change and Massachusetts General Hospital. This award heightened his interest in global neurosurgery, health financing, and equitable access to neurosurgical care.
Currently, Dr. Bhebhe is committed to advancing neurosurgical care in Zambia as a faculty member in the Department of Surgery at the University Teaching Hospitals.
